Fresh Graduate CV for Dubai Jobs: Projects, Internships and First Applications
You can build a credible first CV without inventing employment. Show the role you want, relevant study, projects, internships and evidence of what you can do.
Choose a first job before choosing a template
Read several current entry-level vacancies in your intended field. Note qualifications, tools, language requirements and tasks that repeat, then select examples from your real work. The UAE Government job-search guide lists employer career sites, government sites and licensed recruitment agencies. It also says job seekers should not pay agency fees. A CV can help explain your fit; it cannot substitute for a role’s eligibility criteria.
Do not describe every UAE recruiter as using the same software or selecting applicants within a fixed time. The employer’s listing and process are the useful source for your application.
What to include when paid experience is limited
- Headline and brief summary: name the target function and one or two strengths supported by evidence.
- Education: degree, institution, graduation date and selected coursework if relevant. State recognition or attestation status only when verified.
- Projects: show the question, your contribution, tools used and output. Separate individual work from group work.
- Internships and part-time work: include employer, dates, responsibilities and outcomes. Unpaid work can still demonstrate skill if described honestly.
- Skills and languages: choose those required by the vacancy that you can demonstrate.
Put the strongest relevant evidence near the top. There is no universal rule that education must always come before a project or internship. Keep headings clear, dates consistent and the file readable in the employer’s requested format.
Turn a capstone project into a useful CV entry
Too vague: “Completed a business analytics project.”
More useful, if accurate: “Capstone project, 2025: analysed a sample retail dataset in Excel; cleaned duplicate records, built a category-level dashboard and presented three inventory questions for further investigation. Responsible for data cleaning and chart design in a four-person team.”
This gives the reader scope without pretending a student project was commercial employment. You can use the same structure for design portfolios, engineering prototypes, research posters or community projects. Explain the result accurately and do not publish confidential client or university data.
Use internships and early career opportunities carefully
The UAE Government internship page describes specific student opportunities and programmes, some aimed at Emirati students. Check eligibility before applying. A graduate who is not eligible for one programme can still seek vacancies through employer career sites and other lawful routes.
