Teacher CVs for UAE Schools: Public, Private and Charter Application Routes
A teacher CV should show the curriculum, age group, subject, qualifications and classroom evidence relevant to the actual vacancy. Check the employer and regulator for that school type before making licensing or document claims.
Which school system are you applying to?
UAE public, private and charter schools do not all use one recruitment process. The UAE Government’s teacher-qualification guide describes national qualifications and different application routes. For a public-school role, use the current government or school vacancy and its named application channel. For a private-school role, check the school and its local regulator. An ADEK private-school policy should not be presented as a universal public-school hiring rule.
Dubai’s KHDA appointment guidance concerns private schools. Abu Dhabi’s ADEK school policies include staff eligibility and employment rules for the schools they regulate. Check the precise school type and current policy before applying.
Make teaching evidence visible without overclaiming
- Headline: teaching subject, level and curriculum you have genuinely taught.
- Qualifications: degree, teacher training and current licensing or application status. Do not label an attestation or licence complete while it is pending.
- Experience: school, dates, grades, curriculum, class context and responsibilities. Distinguish teaching from training placements or support roles.
- Classroom practice: give an example of planning, assessment, differentiation or safeguarding that you can explain in an interview.
- Professional development: include relevant courses and dates, and say how you used them only when true.
The Ministry of Education’s educational-professions licensing system is a source for licence processes. Exact requirements can depend on role and current guidance, so the CV should state your own status precisely rather than asserting that every applicant has the same pre-submission checklist.
Show a classroom contribution, not a guaranteed outcome
Too broad: “Responsible for outstanding student achievement.”
More useful, if documented: “Taught Year 7 mathematics in a British-curriculum school, 2023–2025. Used weekly formative checks to identify gaps in fractions and adapted small-group practice; shared progress notes with the department.”
A claim about improved attainment needs a valid baseline and your actual contribution. Do not disclose identifiable student information, individual marks or private school data. Avoid claiming inspection ratings as your personal result unless the statement is accurate and permitted.
What to leave out of the public CV
Do not put an Emirates ID number, family-book reference, passport number or other sensitive identifier in the CV header merely because a guide says a portal needs it. If a verified employer asks for identity documents, provide them through its secure application process. A CV can state nationality or work-authorisation information where relevant and voluntary without publishing document numbers.
Before sending, compare job titles and dates with references, check the vacancy’s actual qualification and language criteria, proofread the file on mobile and keep a record of the version submitted. Do not assume a single ATS format controls all UAE schools.
